I have to tell you a secret. Although I usually don't conform, I happen to really like glitter graphics for MySpace pages.
It's amazing how much they can add, and they're lots of fun, too! But they can become too much of a good thing, and that
ends in a page that is so busy and full of glitz that it's barely readable.
There's a whole world of glitter graphics for MySpace out there - everything from words to backgrounds to pictures of just
about anything under the sun. The incredible range of glitter text and graphics can make you dizzy as you experiment with
different ways to glitter up your page. So today I'm going to give you a sort of rundown on some basic guidelines for using
glitter graphics for MySpace wisely.
Pasting glitter text and graphics onto your friend's comment section is easy - you don't have to worry about how it's going
to look on their page. But using them on your own page is a bit more difficult because you have to take a number of factors
into consideration. Glitter text and glitter graphics for MySpace are so pretty that it's tempting to paste them all over.
But think about a page that has a glitter snowflake background, purple glitter text and lots of little glittery graphics at
the beginning (or end) of each section. How long do you think your eyes could stand to look at a page like that? Exactly.
Not very.
So here are some ideas for glitter without the glitz:
1) First of all, decide on your color scheme. The colors you use will give your MySpace page its basic feel, so think
carefully. If you want your page to have a rustic, nature feel, use colors like brown and dark green, mixed with some yellow
and orange to brighten it up. If you want your page to have a rich, classy look, use dark blue or purple with a golden hue.
If you love fire-engine red, keep in mind that if you want your page to have a warm feel and not an aggressive one, you
should use it sparingly.
2) Decide what's more important to you - a glitter background, or graphics and text. Don't use all three, because your
page will be hard to read and people will click right by it.
3) If you use a glitter background, choose one with a light color and a simple design so that the text on your page will
stand out and be fun to read. If you choose to save the glitter for the text and graphics, then either leave the background
white or choose a light color, for the same reasons.
4) However tempting it may be, do NOT use glitter text on your entire page! Save it for headlines, or for words that
you want to stand out. Don't fill up your page with the graphics, either. Either use one or two big ones, or - my personal
preference - space a few small ones in strategic places around your page. Don't make them too small, though; I've seen
graphics that are so tiny you don't notice the glitter.
5) Finally, the graphics you use say something about who you are. So choose them carefully.
If you're setting up your page and you're in doubt about how much glitter text and graphics you should use, keep the
following cliche in mind: Less=more. And when we're talking about your web page, "more" means that more people will read
your page, and people will spend more time there - which means a lot more friends. And isn't that the whole point?
