Yahoo Games Jewel Quest
Yahoo games Jewel Quest is a fun, and challenging adventure game. Yahoo games Jewel Quest is a new version of the popular game of tile matching. Your job in this game is to line up three similar jewels in vertical or horizontal rows to clear the board. Each set of three you get turns the tile beneath it gold. Complete the board by turning all the tiles gold. There's a time limit, too, so speed can only work to your advantage. You also rack up big points for extra time bonus (they're even nice enough to let all the pairs line up from the last screen so you receive full points when the timer runs out). And when you've conquered a board, one tooth from the ancient stone guardian turns gold, and his hollow eyes light up! Creepy, huh?
There are a number of varying board configurations in Yahoo games Jewel Quest, each a little different from the next in either the set up, difficulty level, or specific challenge (one of my favorite boards is set on a backdrop of stretch canvas hanging from sticks- its primitive and barbaric connotation is perfectly displayed.) Yahoo games Jewel Quest is not a simple game of matching up the same symbols, though. Rather, it falls into the puzzle category in the games hierarchy because of the constant maneuvering and quick-minded thinking tactics it requires.
Yahoo games Jewel Quest is set in the ancient Mayan ruins. As such, you will come across old relics, fallen deities, eerie skulls, and cursed objects, as well as the precious jewels and coins you need to pair up to finish boards. The graphic setting includes a jungle atmosphere, complete with huge plush foliage, interwoven vines, talking heads, flashing eyes, animal sounds, and random bones strewn about. Yahoo games Jewel Quest also features an array of dazzling diamonds, rubies and emeralds that are the focus of the game. This game's designers really took the time to put in some fun detail!
The time aspect certainly lends some added tension, as you need to constantly be moving and thinking several steps ahead. The time allotted is a fair amount, in theory, but can almost make you cry when it cuts you off one tile away from clearing the board! Other challenges are the buried relics placed randomly throughout the different boards. Uncover buried relics by lining up matching pieces with the relic. Only once they have been unearthed can relic tiles be turned to gold. These relics really drive you mad when they're all that stand in your way from obtaining the next level!
What do you think about this twist? Periodically, certain tiles will become void. These tiles will then be unplayable for the remainder of the board. It sounds like an advantage, but you quickly learn the complications it brings along with it, as you try to maneuver around a block in your path!
Here are a few cheats that I found useful. I'm not one for codes, (I like to figure things out for myself, it's more of a challenge!), but sometimes it's fun to throw one in and see past what you would accomplish on your own. These are just a few of the many codes that are available. Trailers for Jewel Quest are also easy to download off the net.
Cheat Codes:
First press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Z to enter cheat mode. (Then your options really open up!)
For level selection, press Ctrl + <1-5> depending on the level you want.
For round selection, press Alt + <0-9> depending on the round you want.
For an additional life Ctrl + L
To add time, Ctrl + T
Ctrl + Enter/Alt + Enter will unlock a board.
Whether you need the codes in the beginning just to get the hang of the game, or you try and wing it, Jewel Quest will quickly become your favorite after school/work/date/anything activity! Oh, and one last tip. Don't be fooled by the smaller shaped boards. Very often these are the trickiest ones to pass. The game only gets more intense as you ascend through all of the 180 challenging levels.
